From the Sensex pack, Axis Bank, Titan, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, Wipro, Nestle and Bajaj Finance were among the major winners. Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Industries, Hindustan Unilever and Tata Steel were the main laggards.

Market benchmarks declined in initial trade on Wednesday amid continuous foreign fund outflows and weak trend in index major Reliance Industries.

The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 104.33 points to 61,189.87. The broader NSE Nifty dipped 32.45 points to 18,200.10.

From the Sensex pack, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Wipro, Bajaj Finance, Power Grid, Infosys, Reliance Industries and Bajaj Finserv were the major laggards.

Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, UltraTech Cement and Hindustan Unilever were the winners.

Elsewhere in Asia, equity markets in Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong were trading in the green, while Tokyo quoted lower. Markets in the US ended lower on Tuesday.

Stock market live updates: Copper futures gain on higher demand
Copper prices rose by 0.44 per cent to Rs 718.30 per kilogram in the futures market on the back of higher spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper contracts for delivery in January traded higher by Rs 3.15 or 0.44 per cent at Rs 718.30 per kg in a business turnover of 4,244 lots.

Silver prices rose by Rs 467 to Rs 70,384 per kilogram in futures trade as participants widened their bets amid a firm spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for March delivery gained Rs 467 or 0.67 per cent to Rs 70,384 per kg in 21,992 lots. Globally, silver was trading 0.70 per cent higher at USD 24.41 per ounce in New York.

Crude oil futures declined 2.38 per cent to Rs 6,321 per barrel as participants trimmed their positions on low demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for January delivery fell by Rs 154 or 2.38 per cent to Rs 6,321 per barrel in a business volume of 7,492 lots. Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading 0.71 per cent lower at USD 76.38 per barrel, and Brent crude was down 0.63 per cent to USD 81.58 per barrel in New York.

Aluminium prices increased by 0.17 per cent to Rs 205.35 per kilogram in futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium contracts for January delivery increased by 35 paise or 0.17 per cent to Rs 205.35 per kg in a business turnover of 3,890 lots.

Gold price increased by Rs 397 to Rs 55,927 per 10 gram in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions on a firm spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for February delivery traded higher by Rs 397 or 0.71 per cent at Rs 55,927 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 14,350 lots. Fresh positions built up by participants led to the rise in gold prices, analysts said. Globally, gold was trading 0.81 per cent higher at USD 1,861.10 per ounce in New York.

Zinc prices fell by 0.13 per cent to Rs 268.80 per kilogram in the futures trade as speculators reduced their exposure taking negative cues from the spot market. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc contracts for January delivery traded lower by 35 paise or 0.13 per cent at Rs 268.80 per kg in 2,086 lots.

India’s services sector growth hits 6-month high in Dec on strong demand
The Indian services sector growth touched a six-month high in December, supported by a robust intake of new work and favourable market conditions, a monthly survey said on Wednesday. The seasonally adjusted S&P Global India Services PMI Business Activity Index rose from 56.4 in November to 58.5 in December, highlighting the strongest rate of expansion since mid-2022.

Shares of Radiant Cash Management Services made its market debut with nearly 10 per cent premium against the issue price of Rs 94. The stock listed at Rs 99.30, registering a gain of 5.63 per cent against the issue price on the BSE. It further jumped 15.37 per cent to Rs 108.45. At the NSE, shares of the company made its debut at Rs 103, higher by 9.57 per cent. The company commanded a market valuation of Rs 1,090.02 crore on the BSE in initial trade. The initial public offer of Radiant Cash Management Services was subscribed just 53 per cent last month. The Rs 388-crore initial share-sale had a price range of Rs 94-99 a share.
