Stocks were broadly lower and a dollar gauge headed for its third day of gains against the backdrop of uncertainty in China and worries about the global economy.
European equity futures were little changed while contracts for the S&P 500 were flat after the US benchmark fell 1.4% for its fourth consecutive daily decline — the index’s worst run in a month. Stocks in Asia fell as investors parsed mixed signals from China and concerns from US bank chief executives about the prospect of recession as early as next year.
